DHA exam practice test free online: what a useful free test includes and how to use it

Short answer: A good DHA exam practice test free online uses original single-best-answer questions, shows an explanation for every option, covers several subjects and reports your score by subject. Avoid any test that claims to contain real exam questions. Use the result to find weak subjects, not to predict whether you will pass.

What a DHA exam practice test free online should include

Free tests vary a lot. A short list of features separates a useful one from a time-waster.

  • Original questions, written for practice, in the single-best-answer style.
  • An explanation for the right answer and for each wrong option.
  • A spread of subjects, so one result shows several strengths and gaps.
  • A score by subject, not only a total.
  • A clear statement of what the score does and does not mean.

Warning signs

Walk away from a test that does any of the following.

  • Says it contains real, recent or leaked exam questions. Real items are protected, and “dumps” are unreliable.
  • Promises a result, such as “pass on your first try”.
  • Shows answers without reasons.
  • Asks for a card before it shows you anything.
  • Gives no way to see how its questions were written.

The free Meddex assessment

The free assessment has one DHA-style single-best-answer question from each domain. You do not need to sign up. It gives an instant score, a breakdown by domain and your weakest areas. It is a quick check of where you stand today. It is not a prediction of your exam result.

The question bank and mocks sit in the app. The pricing page shows what the free plan includes and what is planned, so you can see it before you decide anything.

How to use your free test result

Treat the first result as a baseline, taken cold, before you revise.

  1. Take the test in one sitting without looking anything up.
  2. Note your weakest two or three domains.
  3. Read every explanation, including for questions you got right by luck.
  4. Plan your first fortnight around the weak domains, using the study plan guide.
  5. Retake a different set in two or three weeks and compare by domain.

What a short test cannot tell you

A short test has few questions per subject, so one unlucky question can move a domain score. It cannot tell you your pace over a full paper or how you handle fatigue in the third hour. For that you need a timed full-length sitting later in your preparation, covered in the guide to DHA mock tests.

Also remember that the real exam’s pass score is set per title (50 percent for a Registered Nurse). Check the current figures in the DHA guideline before you set a target score.

After the free test

Do not repeat the same free test again and again. You will learn the questions, not the subject. Move to mixed sets from the question bank, review mistakes in a log and keep one timed set each week.

Questions to ask of any free test

Before you spend time on a free test, ask who wrote the questions and whether a clinician checked them. Look for a page that explains how the questions are written and reviewed, and notice whether it states honestly what is not yet reviewed. Ask whether your answers are stored, where, and whether you can delete them. A trustworthy provider answers these plainly, and a vague answer is information too.

Keep a record of your results

Write down the date, the domain scores and the two weakest areas each time you take a test. After three tests you will see a trend that a single score hides. If a domain does not move after two weeks of work, change how you study it, for example by using flashcards for facts and scenario questions for decisions, instead of simply repeating the same method for longer.

Other ways people search for the same thing

You may also have typed free DHA mock test, DHA nurse practice questions online, DHA exam quiz or DHA prometric practice test. The same checklist applies to all of them. Be especially careful with anything that mentions Prometric in its name or logo. Prometric delivers the real test and Meddex has no link with it, so a practice site that implies one should make you cautious.

A worked example of reading a free test result

Imagine your baseline shows ten domains with one question each, and you miss pharmacology, emergency care and maternal health. That does not mean you are weak in exactly those three, because one question is a small sample. It does give you a place to start. Spend three short sessions on each, take a mixed set of twenty questions, and see whether the pattern holds. If a domain stays low across two sets, move it to the top of your plan.
